Effective Date: August 3, 2026
This Biometric / rPPG Consent (“Consent”) is a required enrollment document for participation as a Research Associate with Elytix Corporation (“Elytix,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By checking the acceptance box (or otherwise electronically accepting this Consent) at enrollment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms below.
1. Nature of the Face Scan – No Facial Recognition
Elytix does not use facial recognition technology. The face scan uses remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) technology to measure and derive vital-sign and wellness biomarkers (such as heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, respiration rate, and stress-related indicators) from subtle color changes in facial video captured by your device camera.
The scan does not identify you, does not create, match, or store any facial-geometry templates, facial-recognition data, or identity-matching vectors, and does not perform facial recognition or identity authentication. Liveness detection is used solely as a secondary anti-fraud measure to confirm that a live person is present during the scan and to help ensure data integrity for research purposes.
The primary purpose of the face scan is as a research and health-data collection instrument to gather objective biomarker data in support of Elytix research protocols, predictive analytics, and study eligibility.
2. What We Collect
With your consent, Elytix (and its authorized service providers) will collect:
- Derived rPPG biomarker readings and related quality and liveness metrics; and
- Technical metadata necessary to process the scan (device type, capture conditions, timestamps).
During the scan your device camera captures video frames. Those frames are processed on your device to derive biomarker values and are not transmitted to Elytix or to any third party, including the technology provider. Only the derived biomarker values and related metrics leave your device. No facial-geometry or facial-identity template is created at any point. Processing is performed in accordance with the Elytix Privacy Policy.
3. Purposes of Collection and Use
You authorize Elytix to collect, use, process, and store the rPPG biomarker data and related information for the following purposes:
- Participation in and administration of Elytix research studies;
- Study eligibility and ongoing research participation;
- Development, training, validation, and improvement of AI and predictive models;
- Internal research and quality improvement;
- Creation of de-identified and aggregated datasets (including data-set Cohorts) for research and commercial licensing; and
- Compliance with legal, regulatory, and research integrity obligations.
Only de-identified data (never identifiable biometric or health information) is licensed, sold, or disclosed to third parties for commercial or research purposes. Once properly de-identified, all right, title, and interest in such data belongs solely and exclusively to Elytix Corporation, as more fully set forth in the Privacy Policy and the Research Participation Agreement and Informed Consent.
4. Consent and Authorization
By accepting this Consent you:
- Give your express, informed, and voluntary consent to the collection and processing of rPPG biomarker data as described herein;
- Authorize Elytix to de-identify the data and to use, license, and commercialize the resulting de-identified datasets as described in the Privacy Policy; and
- Acknowledge that you have been provided with the information necessary to make an informed decision.
5. Retention
Identifiable biomarker-related data is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, for active participation, and as required by law or research integrity requirements. De-identified and aggregated data may be retained indefinitely. Specific retention and destruction practices are described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Withdrawal of Consent
You may withdraw this Consent at any time by contacting support@elytix.com or following the procedures in your Research Participation Agreement or Employee Agreement. Withdrawal of biometric consent will generally result in termination of your ability to continue as an active Research Associate and may affect eligibility for compensation and associated Group Health Plan benefits. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal, nor does it affect Elytix’s ownership of any de-identified data already created.
7. Additional Information
This Consent is supplemented by the Elytix Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Research Participation Agreement / Informed Consent, and Employee Agreement. In the event of a conflict regarding biometric data collection, this Consent and the Privacy Policy control.
If you have questions, contact Elytix at support@elytix.com or Elytix Corporation, 6101 Enterprise Park Drive, Suite 800, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
By checking the box or otherwise electronically accepting this Consent, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to its terms.
